Niagara Falls Police responded to Verizon Wireless on Military Road around 5:30pm on January 7th after reports of shoplifting.
Prior to arrival, NFPD dispatch related that the suspect was a white female wearing a blue hoodie carrying a tote bag and walking toward Walmart. Officers arrived at the shopping plaza and observed a female matching the description walking through the parking lot toward Applebee’s. It is unknown if she intended to eat there, but that is where she was walking to.
When the female suspect observed police, she immediately threw multiple packages from her bag into a nearby snowbank. These packages were later found to be the 7 pairs of earphones stolen from Verizon Wireless.
The female suspect was detained and transported back to Verizon where she was positively identified. A Verizon employee stated that the female suspect entered the store, concealed 7 pairs of earbuds valued at $224.93, passed all points of sale without rendering payment, and fled.
She was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. Although she would have been released on an appearance ticket, due to an outstanding warrant out of Cheektowaga she was released into their custody.
